When God Gives You Lemons, You Buy Houses

There are times in life when a curve ball is thrown from left field. Aren’t we all aware of this? It’s like you’ve got this plan you’ve developed for years, but all that changes as drastically as this year’s seasons from summer to winter!

As many of you have probably seen on Facebook, there have been a lot of changes in the Johnson household.  While no, we aren’t pregnant, we have a few new additions that need to be addressed!

Back in August we adopted our dog Mack. Although he’s been a mountain of work, the joy he’s brought us thus far in our marriage has far surpassed anything we’d imagined.  We are so thrilled to welcome him into our family, and we can’t wait for y’all to meet him!

Just a few days ago, Joe spilled the beans on our most recent news:  we bought a house! God has been so good through the entire process, let me tell you! We had originally planned on waiting a few years to invest, but it turned out the Lord had a drastically different plan.

Long story short, we found the house the day it went on the market, but the description warned anyone interested there were multiple offers already on the table.  Our realtor Brian Stecklein (check him out here!) set up a viewing anyway and before we knew it, we found out our offer was accepted!

Friends, in the midst of this whirlwind of new chapters in our life, there is one huge lesson that’s been ringing out: no matter how many plans we made and how devoted we were to them coming true, God set the path of our ways. His ideas and thoughts are so much higher than ours, and I am SO thankful for that! If I’m being honest, I know for a fact that if I got everything I wanted, I KNOW things wouldn’t turn out.

Somehow, through all the ties in our lives, God impeccably connected everything together to make sure we got that house. We were looking at a very peculiar time, the market was starting to die down, and we were starting to lose hope!

In the end, we knew God would always come through. So, this upcoming week into Thanksgiving, take time to ask God for something you KNOW might be well-near impossible. Ask Him in faith knowing that He can, but don’t expect He will. Sit in the truth that He knows exactly what’s best for you, and regardless of what you’re picturing in your head right now, the Lord has something MUCH better in store.

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

~ Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)

” ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’ “

~ Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
